Foreword of EUROMETREC’s President, Robert Voss

I am honoured and delighted to be President of Eurometrec for the second time.

Since my last term of office in 1994-1998-the EU has significantly grown-and with it the workload and influence of Eurometrec.
Not only has the reputation and influence of Eurometrec grown in Europe-and especially in our working relationship with the Commission and other EU bodies-but also around the world in all and any issues effecting the significant membership of Eurometrec.

Our various “messages” are becoming well known-and more importantly understood-by the various DG’s of the EU Commission as well as the Parliament and Council and by other Government and Non Government organizations.

Acting as the “link” between the European Non Ferrous Industry and the legislators, like any organisation Eurometrec is only as strong as the sum of it’s parts and the support of it’s member federations –and I am delighted that the support form the relevant federations of the EU member states received by the ever-efficient Brussels Secretariat is first class. This has enabled Eurometrec to present a strong and unified voice in many important discussions in Brussels, Strasbourg and around the globe.

It was particularly encouraging for me to see the amount of work done by my colleagues from so many member federations representing thousands of people in hundreds of member companies in many countries on the very important and complex issues relating to the End of Waste meetings recently held in Seville.
My thanks go to them all for their valuable contributions.

The importance of a strong Secondary Non Ferrous Metal Industry in Europe is without question and Eurometrec is the respected organisation here to ensure that this industry grows and flourishes and it’s members interests are protected at all times to ensure that growth in Europe and Worldwide.
